The Rebels Creek House began with a vision; the owners knew the life they wanted to build in the mountains, and Equinox's design team worked alongside them to make it real. The result is a deeply personal home nestled in High Cove, one of Western North Carolina's established ecological intentional communities

The result is a 1,978-square-foot timber frame hybrid that lives larger than its footprint suggests. Soaring ceilings in the main living space draw the eye upward to exposed timber framing and a mezzanine above, while a floor-to-ceiling dry-stacked stone wall anchors the room alongside a wood stove: a detail that sets the tone for the whole interior. Local poplar shingles clad the front entry, stone columns frame the post and beam porch, and every material choice reflects the ecological values of the community it calls home. Built Net Zero Energy Ready, the house is already prepped for solar when the owners are ready to take that next step.
